CRITICAL ANALYSIS Cronin does a remarkable job to continue with her known characters as she has with similar bestseller books.  She keeps her picture book short, simple, and to the point. PLOT SUMMARY This quick read takes the reader through the daily adventures of some energetic dogs. Sometimes they are wearing crazy hats, driving cars, or even having a party up in a tree. No matter their differences at the beginning with color, clothing choices, etc., they all end up together celebrating at the end. 3. CRITICAL ANALYSIS Less than 100 words are found in this picture book making it a great beginner book or even a great read-aloud to build off of. The illustrations are very colorful and attract the reader's eyes quickly. This makes it very appealing to those young readers and early literacy children. His illustrations change with each page whether it be a color or an added/removed object. PLOT SUMMARY This novel takes place in France in the 1930s and is focused on an orphan child named Hugo. After the death of his relative, he lives by himself hidden in a train station. Hugo spends his days focusing on repairing clocks. His survival depends largely on part of being very secretive and hidden from others. However, things change when he meets an old man and his future becomes in jeopardy. 3. CRITICAL ANALYSIS Selznick's writing in this masterpiece is intriguing and keeps the reader on edge. Just when you think you have the story figured out, something changes. At first glance, one might not think this falls into a picture book category based on its size alone.
