2. PLOT SUMMARY

This quick read takes the reader through the daily adventures of some energetic dogs. Sometimes they are wearing crazy hats, driving cars, or even having a party up in a tree. No matter their differences at the beginning with color, clothing choices, etc., they all end up together celebrating at the end.

3. CRITICAL ANALYSIS

Less than 100 words are found in this picture book making it a great beginner book or even a great read-aloud to build off of.

The illustrations are very colorful and attract the reader's eyes quickly. This makes it very appealing to those young readers and early literacy children. His illustrations change with each page whether it be a color or an added/removed object.

This book was written by Eastman; however, it was edited by Dr. Seuss and as a reader of Dr. Seuss's books, one can see the correlation in the writing and the illustrations used.  This book would be a great addition for any child learning to read, it uses simple vocabulary in large format text to help those early readers.

4. REVIEW EXCERPT(S)

School Library Journal "The canine cartoons make an elementary text funny and coherent and still one of the best around."
